God is Love

Often in the midst of all this loving that we talk about, we forget the greatest lovethe life-source and energy and inspiration for all other love we have.

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

... If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

—1 John 4:7-12

I have long loved Maurice Duruflés arrangement of Ubi caritas, whose first line is translated as Where charity and love are, God is there.

I believe that to be true.

  1. Well, Richelle, I finally read your kind comment on an old post from almost a year ago--and want to thank you, and to tell you that I'm enjoying your blog, as well. No surprise, as I'd consider anyone who reads and relishes the likes of Oliver and Robinson a kindred spirit. Keep writing! Thanks again!
